Medikid’s (MediKids Co., Ltd.) is a Shibuya-based childcare and sitter service in which every babysitter is a licensed nurse, built for parents who need to leave a child, including a child with a chronic illness or ongoing medical care, in genuinely safe hands. The nurses have pediatric experience at university hospitals in Tokyo, and the service takes children of any age and any pre-existing condition.

The service covers more than in-home sitting. It includes sick-child care (病児保育), transportation and daycare or kindergarten pickup and drop-off, overnight stays, and accompaniment to hospital appointments and on travel. Before the first booking, the team learns each child’s medical history and daily routine to build a sitting plan suited to that child. During a visit, parents can see and talk to their child anytime through LINE or FaceTime, and the company suggests setting up a monitoring camera so families can watch the room while they are away. Medikid’s carries nursing and babysitter liability insurance.

Because the sitters are nurses rather than general childcare workers, parents can hand over a child who is unwell or needs medical attention and reach the caregiver directly if anything comes up.
