Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. This page explains what information Disability Japan collects when you visit the site, how that information is used, and what control you have over it. If you have any questions about anything on this page, please reach out through the contact form.
Who we are
This site’s address is https://disabilityjapan.com.
Personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
Contact form submissions are submitted via Ninja Forms and stored in the website database. This information is used only to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on the site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, several cookies will be set to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles from other sources). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Advertising
This site may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks in the future. These networks may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this site and other websites in order to provide advertisements relevant to your interests. This information may include your IP address, browser type, general location, pages visited, and time of visit.
If and when advertising is added to this site, the specific networks used will be listed on this page, along with links to their privacy policies so you can review how they handle your data. Visitors will also be able to opt out of personalized advertising through settings offered by those networks.
Advertising revenue, if introduced, will not influence which providers or resources are included in the directory or featured in articles. Editorial decisions are made independently.
Third-party services
This site uses the following third-party services that may receive information about visitors:
- Hostinger (web hosting)
- Ninja Forms (contact form submissions)
- Akismet or similar spam filtering services (for comments, if enabled)
- Gravatar (for comment avatars, if a visitor uses Gravatar)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle any data they receive. Additional services will be listed here if they are added in the future.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on this site (if any), personal information provided in the user profile is also stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that any personal data held about you be erased. This does not include any data that must be retained for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
To make a data request, please contact us through the contact form on this website.

Under the APPI, you have the right to request disclosure, correction, or deletion of your personal information that is held by this site. Personal information will not be provided to third parties without your consent, except where required by law. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us through the contact form on this website.
